Blogging For Me And Being Read By Others

One of the very interesting things about blogging, is that strangers will often find your blog.  They “like” it or they start following it and your numbers grow.  When I started blogging, I wasn’t all that interested in building up a following; I was interested in chronicling my journey in life. Puzzlement

I didn’t look at my blog while I was on “vacation.” Didn’t glance at it at all. Usually, I check my stats once a day to see how many people are reading. But not while I was taking a break. Today was the first day I looked at the stats while I was on “vacation” and boy was I surprised! (more…)

A Glimpse Into The Future

My crystal ball shows me that this post is going to be difficult.  It tells me that every time I try to insert a picture of a crystal ball, it won’t save.  It tells me that I will have to write this post several times.  It tells me that I’m going to be quite frustrated by the time this posts…

It also tells me that I won’t be able to attribute the photo to the photographer in the caption.  But I borrowed the photo from Iris Shreve Garrott.  Finally, my crystal ball tells me that writing this post several times is old!  But, wait!  What’s that?  There is something that is appearing… (more…)

Kreativ Blogger Award – Part 2

Here is where I will attempt to fulfill the requirements for receiving this award.  If you’ll remember, the requirements were:
1. You must thank the person who has given you the award.

https://landamongthestars.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/kreativbloggeraward.jpg?w=200

Thank you again Maxi.  You are such an inspirational blogger – I’m glad that you found me.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link the person who has nominated you for the award.

Here is the link to Maxi’s Comments.
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting.

Let’s see – I have a teddy bear named Colors that I got from Build-A-Bear not that long ago.  I find it hard to believe that I’m not 18 (or 21) and skinny anymore.  My dog Kirby sleeps in bed with me, under the covers, between my legs.  My mom is one of my best friends.  I am a closet Romance Novel reader – I can read a Romance Novel in 2-3  hours and forget about real life.  I can eat an entire bag of Chips Ahoy Cookies (and it is part of the reason that I’m not skinny – but that part isn’t surprising).  In another life, I’d like to be a chef.  Michael’s favorite song, Stereo Hearts, is stuck in my head.  And so you can understand, here are the lyrics and a link to YouTube.

Stereo Hearts

[Adam Levine:]
My heart’s a stereo
It beats for you, so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every no-o-o-te
Make me your radio
And turn me up when you feel low
This melody was meant for you
Just sing along to my stereo

[Travie McCoy:]
Gym Class Heroes baby!
If I was just another dusty record on the shelf
Would you blow me off and play me like everybody else?
If I asked you to scratch my back, could you manage that?
Like yea fucked up, check it Travie, I can handle that
Furthermore, I apologize for any skipping tracks
It’s just the last girl that played me left a couple cracks
I used to, used to, used to, now I’m over that
‘Cause holding grudges over love is ancient artifacts

If I could only find a note to make you understand
I’d sing it softly in your ear and grab you by the hand
Just keep it stuck inside your head, like your favorite tune
And know my heart’s a stereo that only plays for you

[Chorus:]
My heart’s a stereo
It beats for you, so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every no-o-o-te
Make me your radio
And turn me up when you feel low
This melody was meant for you
Just sing along to my stereo

Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh to my stereo
Oh oh oh oh so sing along to my stereo

[Travie McCoy:]
Let’s go!
If I was an old-school fifty pound boombox (remember them?)
Would you hold me on your shoulder wherever you walk
Would you turn my volume up in front of the cops (turn it up)
And crank it higher everytime they told you to stop
And all I ask is that you don’t get mad at me
When you have to purchase mad D batteries
Appreciate every mixtape your friends make
You never know we come and go like on the interstate

I think I finally found a note to make you understand
If you can hit it, sing along and take me by the hand
Just keep me stuck inside your head, like your favorite tune
You know my heart’s a stereo that only plays for you

[Chorus:]
My heart’s a stereo
It beats for you, so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every no-o-o-te
Make me your radio
Turn me up when you feel low
This melody was meant for you
Just sing along to my stereo

Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh to my stereo
Oh oh oh oh so sing along to my stereo

[Bridge:]
I only pray you’ll never leave me behind (never leave me)
Because good music can be so hard to find (so hard to find)
I take your head and hold it closer to mine
Thought love was dead, but now you’re changing my mind

[Chorus:]
My heart’s a stereo
It beats for you, so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every no-o-o-te
Make me your radio
Turn me up when you feel low
This melody was meant for you
Just sing along to my stereo

Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh to my stereo
Oh oh oh oh (Gym Class Heroes baby!) so sing along to my stereo

Yeah

5. Nominate 7 other Kreativ Bloggers.

This is where things become difficult.  I don’t read 7 other blogs.  I read Maxi’s Comments and a blog that is written by childhood friend I reconnected with on Facebook.  It was her blog that inspired me to write my own blog.  It is called, Tidbits from the Queen of Chaos.  I’ve also started reading the blog at Limebird Writers, as Limebirdbeth reads my blog and has been an amazing source of support and assistance.  I regularly check out WordPress for Freshly Pressed blogs, but not much has caught my eye at this point.

Originally, the Norwegian woman who started the award passed the award onto 4 other bloggers.  Even with that requirement, I can’t come up with that many.  So, I’m just going to have to owe 2-5.  I guess it gives me something to work towards.

6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.

See #5.
7. Leave a comment on which of the blogs to let them know they have been nominated.

They should get pingbacks, but I’ll try to remember (as I am scheduling this to post rather than posting it immediately after writing).

Substitute Teaching

I just wanted to write a quick post and let everyone know that I started substitute teaching this week.  I have 4 different jobs for this week – totaling 5 days.  Very busy, very tired, but happy.

Friday night is Marching Band Night at the High School and I’ve volunteered to chaperone.  Saturday, Michael has 2 soccer games.  One is 10-11 and the other is 11-12 and then we are going to the Rapids game with his team – a tailgating.  Should be a great weekend, but really busy.

So much for easing into things.  I will continue to blog, as I am able – hopefully a couple of times a week.

What’s The Deal?!?

So, I wrote and published a blog on a controversial subject.  I broke several of my own rules about blogging.  I spent days writing and even longer agonizing about if I should publish the post in the first place.

And no one read it.  Alright, that isn’t true,  3 people did read it (Thank you!).

So, I am wondering why.

It had a good title, I think – Separation of Church and State, School Choice Program and Douglas County, Colorado.

It was about a current event that impacts the community.  It had a link to the Denver Post.

So, why did no one read it?  I’m really unsure.  Was the topic one that didn’t appeal to the general population?  Was it “scary” or too serious (as gleaned from the title)?

However, I am noticing a trend.  I am losing readers since I hit 166 reads in one day, I haven’t come close.  I wonder why that is.  Is it that my teacher friends have gone back to school?  Is it that, contrary to what my readers have been telling me, you aren’t enjoying the blog?

I’m clueless.  It isn’t fun to spend my time writing something that no one is reading – part of my fun with blogging is knowing that there are people out there who are reading what I wrote.

So, do me a favor – take a minute to answer my poll question.
