Cookbooks
The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook by Erin Chase. I LOVE this book. The recipes are easy and we haven’t had a “bad” one yet. She also wrote The $5 Dinner Mom Breakfast and Lunch Cookbook. I haven’t made much out of this one yet, but I know that I’m going to love it too.
Erin Chase has a website which is worth taking a look at if you are trying to economize.
Inspirational
Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach is by far one of my favorite inspirational books. It is also one of very, very few books that I have read more than once – I’ve read it at least 3 times (most recently aloud to Michael). It was published in 1970. I must have read it for the first time in the 80’s. I think that my parents bought it, but I really don’t remember. I still have the original copy I read for the first time.
For anyone who hasn’t read this story, it is a must read. It is a story about a seagull who learns to fly, not to search for food, but for the higher purpose of flying. He suffers consequences because of his quest for perfection in flying but he gains so much more. It is a quirky little book and a fairly fast read, but the message is truly inspirational.
