My journey to shoot for the moon.

Writing is a habit. It takes a while to build the habit and it is easy to “miss” a day (just like exercise). I took a bit of a vacation from posting because I wanted to spend some more time writing and save some of my posts for when I didn’t have time to write.

I failed. Oh, I wrote, but not for my blog. There is a lot going on in our school district and I spent a great deal of time posting (anonymously).

The issues facing the school district include the expiration of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the DCF (Douglas County Federation – Union). It is not necessarily in my best interests to write my opinions in this forum because it can be traced back to me. So I won’t. But if you are a DCSD parent, a teacher in another district or a parent worried about the state of education in the country, I suggest you do some reading regarding what is going on in DCSD.

One place you can read about DCSD is at SPEAK for DCSD.  On this site, you can post anonymously which allows teachers to post without fear of repercussions.

For those of you who know me and/or read my blog regularly, you know I love my job.  I love working with kids.  I love teaching.  My co-workers are wonderful and I am so very thankful that I finally have a job that I want to go to every single day.  I wake up in the morning and want to go to work.  I feel safe, respected, valued and appreciated in my little sphere.  However, I am not feeling as comfortable about the district as I am about my little sphere.

Someday I’ll be able to write about my opinion regarding the situation.  For now, it is best to keep it to myself.

  1. Hope everything gets worked out, Robin. Sounds like a struggle.
